SALT LAKE CITY — Jeff Salt, representing the Jordan River Foundation, addressed the Salt Lake County Council Tuesday encouraging members to join a meeting this week to discuss safety issues regarding the Jordan River following two drownings Sunday.
"We want to develop an action plan … for addressing those hazards along the Jordan River that are waiting for more people to get hurt or die," Salt said. He is also executive director of the Great Salt Lake Keeper, an environmental organization with the mission to protect and preserve the watershed.
The river discussion will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, in Room S4800, at the County Government Center, 2001 S. State.
The meeting is open to the public, but those especially invited are West Jordan City and Taylorsville officials, boating representatives and county staff, including representatives of public works as well as parks and recreation.
