Outrage over release

I have to say the Deseret News is worth the price of admission every day. I don't have the time or inclination to troll the Internet for stories, so I always appreciate articles and editorials that I wouldn't otherwise see. For example, the editorial from the Chicago Tribune published on July 29 headlined "Investigate bomber's release" regarding the release of a follower of "the religion of peace" who was convicted of killing 270 people (189 Americans) in the bombing of a Pan Am flight over Lockerbie, Scotland, in 1988. It struck me that not so long ago, when the United States was filled with red-blooded, patriotic Americans, the headline would have been: " Declare war on Britain again?"

It's incredible that not only are most Americans unaware of this story — the ones who are should be shouting from the rooftops that this is the worst kind of outrage and insult. Stamp tax? Forced to buy tea from the British East India Company? Puh-leez! They went to war over all of that? And despite all the money we spend on our military, we can't blast a plane carrying a cold-blooded killer of American citizens back to Libya to kingdom come?

I don't even blame the Obama administration, because I'm sure the Bush administration would have looked the other way, as well. It's just a sad state of affairs when we allow Britain to disrespect murdered American citizens and their families.
