HEBER — A man was killed after a personal watercraft collision at Deer Creek Reservoir Saturday afternoon.
About 12:15 p.m., two men were riding the waves in separate watercraft, possibly too fast and close to each other, when they collided, according to a statement by Utah State Parks and Recreation.
One man was taken to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo and was pronounced dead. The second man was unharmed.
The two men knew each other and were visiting Utah from Europe. The victim's name has not been released pending notification of family.
The investigation is ongoing, but State Parks said that the "proximity law" requires "boat operators to maintain 150 feet of distance from another boat, shore or person in the water," the statement said.
