SALT LAKE CITY— There will be significant nighttime closures on I-15 this weekend.
Lane restrictions will start on Sunday. The northbound HOV lane at 1300 South will be the first to close at 8 p.m., and the second lane will close at 10 p.m. Northbound I-15 will be closed entirely at 1300 South from Sunday at midnight through 3 a.m. Monday, when two general-purpose lanes will open. By 5 a.m. Monday, all lanes will be reopened.
During the closure, traffic on northbound I-15 and westbound I-80 will be diverted to the 2100 South, 1300 South or 900 South collector exit and will travel across 1300 South to the on-ramp back onto northbound I-15.
The I-215 south off-ramp at the mouth of Parleys Canyon closed at 11 a.m. Friday and will remain closed through 5 a.m. Monday. It will reopen to passenger cars only at 9 a.m. Monday with a one-lane closure. Traffic will be diverted along I-80 westbound to I-15 southbound. All trucks, semis, trailers and RVs are prohibited from using the I-215 south off-ramp until Monday, Aug. 9.
Two lanes will be closing at 8 p.m. each night, with a third lane closing at 11 p.m., at the American Fork Main Street interchange on Friday and Saturday, with all lanes reopening at 6 a.m. each morning. The right lane will be closed all day Sunday and will reopen Monday at 6 a.m. This will cause significant delays, so motorists have been advised to plan ahead.
One lane will be closed on northbound I-15 in North Salt Lake from 9 p.m. Monday through 5 a.m. Tuesday. Northbound I-15 traffic will shift to its final configuration on the newly constructed east side with the HOV lane closed until mid-August. The northbound 1000 North on-ramp to I-15 and the northbound 2300 North on- and off-ramps are expected to reopen with the traffic shift on Tuesday.
