Federal prosecutor named interim U.S. attorney for Utah
SALT LAKE CITY — Prosecutor Carlie Christensen has been appointed to a 120-day term as U.S. attorney for Utah.
Christensen, who has been the acting U.S. attorney since Brett Tolman's resignation late last year, was appointed by Attorney General Eric Holder and sworn in by Chief U.S. District Judge Tena Campbell.
Christensen's term is effective Friday. President Barack Obama could nominate and the U.S. Senate could confirm a new U.S. attorney for the state at any point during that term.
