PAYSON — Although Utah experienced a wet winter and spring, water restrictions continue in this south Utah County city.
"Payson has a schedule for when people should water," city manager Richard Nelson wrote in an e-mail to the Deseret News. "It has been on the books for a long time. Every year or so, we try to remind the residents of what that schedule is."
The latest reminder came in the city's monthly newsletter in July. Residents who have odd-numbered addresses may water their yards between 6 p.m. and 10 a.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, and residents with even-number addresses water Monday, Wednesday and Friday. No one should water on Sunday, so the pressurized system can recover.
Payson officials also suggest that residents cut back to two days a week.
Large water users are allowed to irrigate during the day, which preserves pressure for residents to water during the time reserved for them.
Salem, just north of Payson, also has restrictions. Residents must keep their sprinklers off daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. No other south Utah County city is restricting irrigation water.
