MAGNA — A man suffered third-degree burns while working at Kennecott Utah Copper Tuesday.

The man, 47, was using a compressed air machine when he hit a puddle of molten metals that struck the left side of his body, burning his face, shoulder, arm and leg, said Unified Fire Authority Capt. Clint Smith.

The medical team responding to the scene found the man conscious and breathing. He appeared disoriented and was transported via medical helicopter to the burn unit at University Hospital in serious condition, Smith said.
