TOLLGATE CANYON, Summit County — A Sandy man was killed after his all-terrain vehicle crashed into a tree while he was riding with family in Tollgate Canyon Saturday.

Brett Thomas Green, 50, was riding behind a family member down a dirt road when he lost control of the ATV and it left the roadway, crashing into a tree, Utah State Parks and Recreation spokeswoman Deena Loyola said.

The family member didn't see Green crash but realized he was missing after arriving back at camp. The family member then went back to find him.

Park rangers reported Green was alive when emergency personnel arrived on scene, but he died shortly afterward.

Green was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
