ALPINE — Local BMX riders are anxious to hear where a bike track will go in Alpine. The city council expects to decide the exact location on Tuesday, after entering into a lease agreement in June for 10 acres south of Lambert Park.
Local riders are anxious to get involved and build a track and jumps. The city has committed to providing a port-a-potty, trash can, water valve and heavy machinery for one to two days to move in the initial dirt.
"The park can be as sparse (sic) as that," Darrin Peper wrote in an e-mail. Peper is a biking enthusiast who has been working with the city on development of the park. "The riders will be happy to pack and build the balance. With the July date, the summer is getting away from us but we understand these things take time."
