WEST VALLEY CITY — A free two-day event for the public to learn more about Salt Lake County's water issues, including water quality, pollution control and nature protection, will run 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, and 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, with a registration deadline of July 28.
The event will be at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center, 1355 W. 3100 South.
Presentations and workshops will explore topics ranging from general interest to technical.

Between a horse, kittens and five baby ducks trapped, rescuers were kept busy but saved all the animals.

I found that out last week. In search of a Memorial Day column, I wandered into Memory Grove (who said columnists can't grasp the obvious?) and as I walked by the various war monuments, I came upon the best-looking structure there: the Meditation Chapel, which might have been transplanted straight from Athens.
