BRIGHAM CITY — Anticipating a crowd of several thousand to attend the July 31 ground-breaking ceremonies for the LDS Church's Brigham City Utah Temple, city officials have announced street closures and other control efforts for the event.

Officials expect a crowd of between 2,500 to 10,000 at the Saturday morning ground-breaking at 250 S. Main St., site of what will be the 14th temple in Utah for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Sections of Main Street as well as other streets and intersections between 100 South and 400 South and 200 East and 100 West will be closed beginning at 6 AM that day. They are expected to be reopened at 10 a.m.

A limited number of parking spaces for vehicles with handicap placards will be provided near the temple lot at 100 West, between 200 and 300 South.

Seating for the 9 a.m. ceremony is limited and accessed only by distributed tickets. No seating or standing on the 200 block of South Main will be allowed, and chairs and blankets cannot be used to reserve places for the ceremony.

Officials encourage attendees to bring drinking water, given the summer temperatures and sun.

The event will also be telecast to local LDS Church stake centers and the Box Elder Tabernacle, located across the street from the Mormon temple site.
