FARMINGTON — Police cited one man and arrested another in connection with a small brush fire that burned in the hills above Farmington Monday night.

The fire started around 10 p.m. and charred about an acre and a half before fire crews put it out.

Davis County sheriff's deputies responding to the scene found two men who witnesses said started the blaze, according to a police report.

The men insisted that the fire began when one of them dropped a cigarette butt in some dry weeds, but officers found fireworks in the car that matched dozens of illegal fireworks in a duffel bag and cooler left on the hill, the report states.

Brayden Daniel Christensen, 18, of Kaysville, was cited with possession of illegal fireworks. Fruit Heights resident Devin James Davis, 19, who told police he dropped his cigarette in the grass, was booked into the Davis County Jail for investigation of reckless burning and possession of illegal fireworks, the report states.
