WEST BOUNTIFUL — A former Davis County sheriff's deputy was arrested Tuesday and charged with multiple counts of distributing drugs.
Christopher Kenneth Sorenson, 35, of Centerville, was arrested at a North Salt Lake park after a monthlong investigation, said West Bountiful Police Sgt. Corie Hamilton.
About a month ago, police received a report that someone was selling "bad" heroin in the area, Hamilton said. The subsequent investigation led officials to Sorenson. He was arrested after he sold drugs to undercover officers and police observed him buying cocaine and heroin, the sergeant said.
When he was arrested, Sorenson was apparently trying to use the drugs and had his 3-year-old son with him, Hamilton said.
The boy is now in the custody of family members.
Sorenson, an eight-year veteran, was fired from the sheriff's office in 2007 after he was arrested on drug charges, to which he later pleaded guilty.
Sorenson was charged Wednesday in 2nd District Court with three counts of possession with the intent to distribute a controlled substance and three counts of distributing a controlled substance, second-degree felonies. He was also charged with two counts of endangerment of a child, a third-degree felony, and tampering with evidence, a class A misdemeanor.
