Y the changes?

The YMCA has long been informally known as "the Y," but now it's making the title official.

That's bad news for The Village People, whose "Y.M.C.A." has been a sports anthem for decades. But the change isn't great news for BYU, either. First, its thunder gets stolen by rival Utah's move to the Pac-10. Then its nickname gets commandeered by the YMCA.

Not to worry.

Rock On sources say long-term plans call for BYU to join the Big 12, then start calling itself "the B."

Jazzmatazz

The Chicago Bulls acquired three ex-Jazz players last week — Carlos Boozer, Ronnie Brewer and Kyle Korver.

Already the Bulls had an All-Star guard (Derrick Rose), which means the Bulls have essentially become the new Jazz.

Which also must mean they're destined to lose in the early rounds of the playoffs every year, just like the old Jazz, right?

Tonya Time

Tonya Harding, the erstwhile Olympic skater, recently got married for the third time.

All went well, Rock On sources say, until the groomsman tried to take out a bridesmaid's knee with a loaf of Ukranian wedding bread.

Tonya Time II

OK, there was one other little incident at the Harding wedding.

When the minister said, "If any person can show just cause why they may not be joined together, let them speak now or forever hold their peace," Nancy Carrigan began to wail, "Why? Why? Why?"

Double negative

Reports claim Western Kentucky and Idaho pay-per-view football games this fall against Nebraska will cost viewers $40.

Forty bucks!

On the bright side, rumor has it that for another $15 fans can see the replay of Jose Canseco losing a fight with a 60-year old.

Backup plan

Raja Bell was reintroduced at a Jazz press conference on Monday, where he said one reason he decided to return to Utah was because he could be a major factor.

Other teams, he went on to say, "were pretty much set and were just trying to add people for an insurance policy. I didn't want to be an insurance policy."

To which Sundiata Gaines allegedly replied, "Just call me Double Indemnity."
