New England Revolution midfielder Steve Ralston plans to announce his retirement from soccer Tuesday.

The Revolution said Monday that Ralston is expected to play his final match Tuesday against Mexico's Monarcas Morelia in the SuperLiga, then announce his retirement.

Ralston, 36, is Major League Soccer's career leader in games, starts, minutes and assists, and he had four goals in 36 appearances for the United States.

BORNSTEIN LEAVING CHIVAS USA: United States left back Jonathan Bornstein will leave Major League Soccer's Chivas USA and join Mexico's Tigres UNAL on Jan. 1.

The 25-year-old Bornstein has been with Chivas USA since 2006 and his contract expires at the end of the season. He will be the second U.S. national team player to leave Chivas USA this year. Midfielder Sacha Kljestan transferred last month to Belgium's Anderlecht.

COACHING CAROUSEL CONTINUES: Sky Blue FC of Women's Professional Soccer is on its fifth coach in 14 months.

The franchise won the league's inaugural championship last season despite going through three coaches. Pauliina Miettinen was then hired in September, but she lasted just 14 games before the team announced Monday she had been fired.

Sky Blue is 5-6-3 and in third place with 10 games left.
