PROVO — A variety of activities from free pioneer games to a mountain man encampment are planned in Provo's North Park, 500 North and 500 West, for the annual Pioneer Day Extravaganza on Saturday, July 24.
The event, which attracts 3,000 to 4,000 people annually, will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and includes a farmers market, a American Indian village and an antique car show. The city's pioneer village and the Daughters of Utah Pioneers museum will also be open during the day. A free movie is planned in the park at dusk.
Whitney Booth, Provo's recreation coordinator, said a pie cook-off and a log-sawing competition will be new to this year's celebration.
"The park is usually pretty packed, and all the games and crafts are new this year," she said.
