JORDANELLE RESERVOIR — A West Valley City woman was seriously injured when the jet ski she was on collided with another jet ski at Jordanelle Reservoir Sunday.
The 19-year-old woman was the passenger on a jet ski that was rear-ended by a second jet ski, which also was carrying two people.
The woman was flown by helicopter in serious condition to University Hospital in Salt Lake City. The driver of the jet ski she was on suffered minor injuries and was treated and released at the scene. The occupants of the other jet ski were unharmed.
Jordanelle State Park rangers and emergency medical personnel stabilized the victim and took her by ambulance to a location where AirMed could land and fly her to Salt Lake.
The accident remains under investigation, but Jordanelle State Park rangers have cited the driver of the second jet ski for violating the speed and proximity law, which requires boat operators to maintain 150 feet of distance from another boat, shore or person in the water.
All jet ski riders were wearing life jackets when the accident occurred.
