SANDY — A woman and her two young children received minor injuries when they were hit by a vehicle in a crosswalk Friday afternoon.
The woman was pushing a stroller with her two children across State Street at the corner of 9400 South about 2 p.m., when a vehicle came up to the intersection to make a left turn, said Sandy Police Sgt. Troy Arnold.
The driver came to a stop and looked one way for vehicle traffic, but proceeded without looking the other way for pedestrian traffic, he said.
The vehicle struck the trio in the crosswalk. The three were sent to a local hospital, mostly as a precaution. They were determined to be in good condition, with minor bumps and bruises, according to Arnold.
"The driver will be cited for improper lookout and failure to yield," he said.
Arnold said the incident serves as a reminder for motorists to look both ways before proceeding, especially at intersections and crosswalks.
