Utah Jazz: Ronnie Brewer joins Carlos Boozer, Kyle Korver with Bulls

SALT LAKE CITY — Free-agent swingman Ronnie Brewer will become the third former member of the Jazz to join the Chicago Bulls this month.

Multiple websites reported Friday that Brewer and the Bulls have agreed on a deal.

ESPN.com and Yahoo.com both said the contract is worth $12.5 million over three years, but ESPN.com reported the third season isn't guaranteed.

The agreement, contingent on Brewer's passing of a physical exam, was originally reported on the Bulls' team website.

The defensive-minded Brewer sustained a serious hamstring injury late last season.

He reportedly picked Chicago's offer over one from Boston.

"I'm fairly young and I got an opportunity to start in Chicago," Brewer told Yahoo. "Both are great cities, storied programs. It came down to where I could excel more. With the young Bulls, I like their style of play and I get to play with Derrick Rose."

Chicago turned to Brewer after Orlando matched an offer sheet that shooting guard J.J. Redick signed with the Bulls.

Brewer was traded in February from Utah to Memphis, which didn't extend a qualifying offer to the University of Arkansas product and instead signed Boston small forward Tony Allen.

The Jazz also considered bringing back Brewer, but they instead came to an agreement Wednesday with another of their former swingmen, Raja Bell, on terms of a contract worth nearly $10 million over three years.

Bell will be reintroduced in Utah on Monday afternoon, as long as he passes a physical exam. He's coming off December wrist surgery.

In Chicago, Brewer — Utah's starting shooting guard until he was traded to the Grizzlies — will join ex-Jazz teammates Carlos Boozer and Kyle Korver.

Boozer signed a five-year, $76 million deal earlier this month, and Korver followed shortly after with a three-year, $15 million agreement.

Brewer, 25, was a Jazz first-round draft choice in 2006.
