COLUMBUS, Ohio — Teal Bunbury scored in the 14th minute and Jimmy Nielsen made seven saves to lead Kansas City to a 1-0 victory over the Columbus Crew on Wednesday night.
Bunbury returned to Ohio, where he played last season at Akron, and scored after taking a pass from Ryan Smith and putting a shot between the legs of Crew goalkeeper William Hesmer.
The goal broke a 339-minute scoreless streak for the Wizards (4-8-3), who ended a three-game losing streak.
Columbus (8-3-4) lost for the first time in four games but still leads second-place New York by two points in the Eastern Conference.
