HOOPER, Weber County — One man was killed and another severely injured following a collision between a motorcycle and a four-wheel ATV early Monday.
Police were called to 4252 W. 2425 North just before 2 a.m. Witnesses said the two vehicles may have been racing. Emergency personnel detected alcohol on the breaths of the victims, according to the Davis County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators believe both vehicles were traveling about 50 mph when they hit each other. They could find no evidence of braking by either vehicle before they collided. Both victims were thrown 100 feet upon impact, according to Davis County Sheriff's Lt. Brad Wilcox.
Drew Boren, 31, the ATV rider, suffered massive head trauma and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Robert Morrison, 27, suffered severe injuries to his lower left limb and was flown by medical helicopter to Intermountain Medical Center.
Detectives found a glass pipe with marijuana residue in Boren's pockets and pills normally used for anxiety disorder and insomnia in Morrison's pockets, according to the sheriff's office.
