We don't need to be reminded that Utah is last in per-pupil spending ("Utah last in U.S. in spending per pupil — again," Deseret News, June 29). What should be brought out is what percentage of the state budget is spent on education. It might give Utahns a different perspective in how we rank with other states.
With big Utah families not paying their share into the Uniform School Fund, it's no wonder we are last in per-pupil spending. Until they do, we will have to be content with being last.
