SALT LAKE CITY — Farmers Market visitors will be able to sample the culinary artistry of capital city chefs paired with local farmers at an August event sponsored by Toyota.
The second annual Toyota Farm to Table Tour will visit the popular weekend gathering at downtown's Pioneer Park on Aug. 21 to "celebrate farmers markets and the benefits they offer their communities, while also showcasing Toyota's extensive line of hybrids," according to a company executive.
Kim Angeli, special events director for the Downtown Alliance, said marketgoers will get a chance to taste a variety of local foods prepared by the city's leading chefs.
"Twelve chefs will be working at five cooking stations throughout the day," Angeli said. "Visitors get to take part in the tastings, free of charge, and will also get a free potted herb for participating."
Angeli said the Downtown Alliance is careful about signing off on corporate events at the market but noted the Toyota program is more focused on celebrating Salt Lake City's local food and chefs, with the car promotion as a secondary aspect.
