SALEM, Utah County — City recorder Jeff Neilson swore in new Mayor Jonathan Cope on Wednesday for the second time.
Cope replaced Mayor Stanley Green, who resigned for personal and health reasons May 14, just five months after taking office. Cope, who ran against Green in the November election, fills the mayor's seat through December 2011. The next mayoral election is November 2011.
Cope was first sworn in on June 16 so he could immediately assume the mayor's duties. The swearing in Wednesday was ceremonial for family and the press, Neilson said.
