SALT LAKE CITY — Siaosi Aiono, a 6-foot-2 1/2, 290-pound offensive lineman from South Hills High School in West Covina, Calif., has given the University of Utah football program an early recruiting commitment. He plans to sign a letter-of-intent in February.

Aiono, who received offers from several other schools including BYU, was a standout at the Los Angeles Under Armour Combine in March. An ESPN.com report said he was the "best offensive line prospect" and "performed well in pass blocking drills."

Aiono's father confirmed his son's decision Wednesday morning and said Utah's upcoming membership in the Pac-10 is a "bonus" for the southern California family.

Utah's 16 other commits for 2011 include: offensive lineman Isaac Asiata (6-4/319, Spanish Fork HS), linebacker Tevita Bloomfield (6-1/230, Hunter HS), quarterback Derrick Brown (6-3/230, Vista Murrieta HS, Calif.), safety Joseph Bryant (6-3/210, Bryan HS, Texas), wide receiver Nate Fauonuku (6-4/195, Highland HS), defensive tackle Viliseni Fauonuku (6-0/290, Bingham HS), wide receiver Charles Henderson (5-10/175, McDonogh 35 HS, Louisiana), cornerback Ryan Henderson (5-10/165, Rancho Verde HS, Calif.), offensive lineman Daniel Kristensen (6-5/263, Cottonwood HS), safety Keith McGill (6-3/200, Cerritos College, Calif.), offensive lineman Daniel Nielson (6-6/278, Hurricane HS), linebacker Jared Norris (6-2/228, Centennial HS, Calif.), running back Jarrell Oliver (5-9/193, Dulles HS, Texas), offensive lineman Jordan Robles (6-5/238, Salem Hills HS), safety Eric Rowe (6-2/174, Klein HS, Texas) and wide receiver Travis Still (6-2/189, Spanish Fork HS).
