MAITLAND, Fla. — First-round rookie Gordon Hayward scored a team-high 14 points today, including seven in the final minute, as Utah held on to beat host Orlando 78-73 in the Jazz's second game of the Orlando Pro Summer League.
Hayward, taken at No. 9 overall out of Butler University in the June 24 NBA Draft, knocked down a 3-pointer with 30.2 seconds to push a one-point Utah lead to four at 74-70.
He also hit 4-of-4 from the free-throw line in the last 20 seconds as the Jazz moved to 1-1 in summer-league play.
Regular-roster reserve big man Kosta Koufos added a 13-point, 11-rebound double-double for Utah, and free agent James Augustine had seven points and seven rebounds in 20 minutes.
Patrick Ewing Jr., son of the longtime New York Knicks center and current Orlando assistant who is coaching the Magic's summer team, led Orlando with 17 points.
