Utah Jazz Notebook: NBA teams in holding pattern with free agent forward Carlos Boozer
SALT LAKE CITY — With no commitments coming from either LeBron James or Chris Bosh yet, there appeared to be no movement Saturday on the Carlos Boozer free-agency front.
The Chicago Bulls, Miami Heat, New Jersey Nets and the Jazz themselves remain most interested, but Boozer is not expected to do anything until higher-profile NBA free-agents — including James and Bosh — made their decisions.
Boozer has met twice with the Bulls and at least once with the Heat but remains a fallback option to Bosh for both teams.
As for the Nets, the Newark Star-Ledger reported Saturday that "they've nailed nothing down for Carlos Boozer or (New York Knicks unrestricted free agent forward) David Lee and that is not going to happen, we have on very good authority, until after they hear from James."
The Jazz remain interested in re-signing Boozer, an unrestricted free agent, if he can't find a better deal elsewhere.
Jazz starting shooting guard Wesley Matthews (a restricted free agent), backup shooting guard Kyle Korver (unrestricted) and backup center Kyrylo Fesenko (restricted) also remain uncommitted.
AMUNDSON APPEAL: Yahoo .com reported that the Jazz are among multiple teams showing "interest" in Phoenix Suns free-agent forward Louis Amundson.
Others include Phoenix, his hometown Denver Nuggets and Miami, according to the website.
A CBSSports.com report citing unidentified "sources" added Charlotte and New York to that list of teams but didn't mention Phoenix.
As previously reported, Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor has spoken with agent Mark Bartelstein about several of his clients, a list that includes Amundson. Amundson played one game for the Jazz, his first in the NBA.
TRADE TALK: The Arizona Republic newspaper reported Saturday that before Phoenix agreed to terms with free agent Hakim Warrick to help replace departing Amare Stoudemire, the Suns explored multiple trade possibilities. One of those was the possible acquisition of Jazz small forward Andrei Kirilenko.
The Suns have long held interest in Kirilenko, dating way back to a never-consummated trade proposal that would have brought Shawn Marion to Utah.
PRUITT CUT: Former Utah Flash guard Gabe Pruitt won't be playing for New Jersey in this week's Orlando Pro Summer League after all.
Pruitt was among several players cut by the Nets before they flew to Florida, the Star-Ledger reported.
Among those sticking with New Jersey was big man Garret Siler, who joined the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association shortly after reporting to training camp with the Jazz before last season.
The Jazz will join the Nets and six other teams in the Orlando league, which opens Monday.
Utah's opening game is against Charlotte.
