Spanish Fork tightens up its chicken policy

SPANISH FORK — The city's liberal policy allowing chickens in residential areas has resulted in numerous complaints regarding the number of chickens residents have and where they place coops in their yards.

So the City Council revised the ordinance Tuesday and imposed a permit with a $5 fee. That way, enforcement officials will know where the chickens are if rules aren't followed, officials said.
