LAYTON — Hilton Worldwide will break ground Thursday, July 8, on a Home2 Suites by Hilton hotel at 803 W. Heritage Park Blvd., Layton.
The groundbreaking ceremonies will be at 11 a.m., followed by a celebration from noon to 2 p.m. at the Davis Conference Center, 1651 N. 700 West, Layton.
The event will be the new brand's second groundbreaking and its first location in the West.
Home2 Suites is a mid-tier, extended-stay hotel brand. Groundbreaking at its first hotel, in Fayetteville, N.C., occurred in December.
On its website, Hilton says the brand is on track to open more hotels in less time than any other Hilton Worldwide brand, and that expansion is planned in Canada and Mexico. In April, the company said it expects to open 100 properties by the end of 2013 and 60 to 70 more annually thereafter.
Most Home2 Suites properties will consist of 90 percent studios, with 323 square feet, and 10 percent one-bedroom suites, with 509 square feet. Details are at www.home2suites.com.
Hilton Worldwide has more than 3,500 hotels under a variety of brands in 81 countries.
