LAYTON — An early morning fire destroyed a motor home and damaged a house Wednesday.
Just after midnight, the homeowners at 2864 N. 1725 West heard a "pop" and rushed outside to find their motor home engulfed in flames, said Layton Fire Battalion Chief Mike Adams.
When firefighters arrived, the flames had spread to the house.
Firefighters controlled the motor-home blaze in a matter of minutes, but it took another hour or so to extinguish the flames that had crept into the house's attic, Adams said.
The motor home was destroyed by the fire, which investigators suspect may have started in the motor home's propane-powered refrigerator, he said.
Adams said no one was hurt. He estimated the fire caused about $150,000 damage to the house and motor home.
The American Red Cross responded to help the couple with "essential needs like shelter," according to a statement from the charity.
