Three players from Utah — Marcus Littlewood, Adam Duke and Kavin Keyes — have been selected to the 36-player trials roster for the U.S. 18-under baseball team. They will now compete in practices and intrasquad games for one of the 18-20 roster spots on Team USA. The 18-under national team will compete in the IBAF's AAA Junior World Championships in Canada July 23-Aug. 1.
Littlewood started at shortstop for the Blue team in the squad's first intrasquad game before it was postponed by rain on Tuesday. He went 0-for-3 with a strikeout. Littlewood starred at Pine View as a four-year starter and was drafted by the Mariners in the second round of the Major League Baseball draft earlier this month.
Duke left Spanish Fork as the school's all-time winningest pitcher and was named the 4A MVP after leading the Dons to a state title in 2010. Keyes, who will be a senior at Alta next year, is a two-time first-team all-state pick at shortstop.
Trials and training for Team USA last until Saturday.
