OREM — Center Street will reopen at 11 a.m. Sunday after an overnight closure by the Utah Department of Transportation.
If necessary, the street will also be closed from 9 tonight until 5:30 a.m. Monday, according to UDOT officials.
Crews working on a $1.7 billion I-15 reconstruction project in Utah County are removing the outside portions of the freeway bridge that crosses over Center Street.
During the closure, Center Street/I-15 interchange ramps will stay open. But east-west travel on Center Street will be closed under the freeway during bridge demolition. Drivers should use 400 North, 400 South and 800 North as alternatives.
After demolition, the bridge will be widened to accommodate two additional freeway lanes both northbound and southbound on I-15. Crews will rebuild the bridge in the present location.
Drivers can receive weekly project updates at www.udot.utah.gov/i15core.
