PROVO — Nearly three weeks after police say he attempted to rob a 7-Eleven at gunpoint, an American Fork man is in jail.
Levi Walker, 23, was booked for investigation of aggravated robbery after police say he pulled a gun on a 7-Eleven clerk.
On Monday, American Fork police were interviewing Walker about a separate robbery, in American Fork, said Provo police Capt. Cliff Argyle. Walker denied involvement in that robbery, but admitted he was responsible for an earlier 7-Eleven robbery in Provo, Argyle said.
"During the course of the interview, you're always probing for more information," Argyle said. "They may not be responsible for what you're looking at them for, but a lot of times they don't do one job and call it good, so you try to leave it open-ended and get any information from them."
Walker was booked into the Utah County Jail. He had recently been on probation for theft.
On June 3, Walker went into the 7-Eleven, at 496 N. University Ave., at 1:50 a.m., and tried to purchase a beer, but the clerk refused to sell it to him, because of the time of day, police said. After five minutes of negotiating with the clerk, Walker followed the clerk outside while the clerk smoked in front of the store. Walker kept asking the clerk to sell him the beer, and then asked him if he had ever had a gun pulled on him, according to police.
When they came back inside, Walker brought a case of Pepsi to the counter, pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the clerk's head, police said. The clerk saw a red tip on the barrel of the gun, thought it was not real and grabbed at the gun. Police said after a brief struggle, Walker got the gun back and ran from the store.
Argyle said police are unsure if the gun was fake.
