SARATOGA SPRINGS — Police have identified the man who died Friday while boating on Utah Lake as 69-year-old Jack Turner of South Jordan.

Turner and his 16-year-old grandson were fishing when both fell into the water, said Utah County Sheriff's Lt. Dave Bennett.

The teen, who was wearing a life jacket, threw his grandfather a flotation device and then swam for help.

By the time rescuers reached Turner a half-hour later, they found him floating face down with his arm through the flotation device. He was pronounced dead at Utah Valley Medical Center.

Officials have not yet determined the exact cause of death.
