SALT LAKE CITY — Brian Brush and Yong Ju Lee, both of New York City, have been selected by The Leonardo to create a major art piece called "Dynamic Performance of Nature," which will run next spring as part of the future science-tech-art center's grand opening.

The Leonardo will open its doors for the exhibit April 15, 2011. Brush and Lee's work will be featured on the main floor.

"Dynamic Performance of Nature" will be made of custom-milled, recycled-plastic panels arranged in a wave-like pattern to replicate that of a light or sound wave. The center selected Brush and Lee's idea because of its emphasis on creativity and connectivity.

"What we made truly synthesizes information, technology, material and space," Brush and Lee said in a statement. "We hope visitors will appreciate this work as a piece that goes beyond application or demonstration of technology as art."

Brush and Lee were among 75 artists who submitted proposals to The Leonardo. The two artists were chosen to produce their work by a seven-member jury that included representatives from Salt Lake City and The Leonardo, as well as the regional arts community.

A preview video of "Dynamic Performance of Nature" is online at www.theleonardo.org/current_news/newsevents/the-leonardo-awards-major-art-installation/.

The center plans to run other multidisciplinary exhibits, as well as hands-on activities and workshops to create an innovative experience for future guests and visitors.
