1. The start of the Corona Arch Trail. With the Colorado River in the background, a hiker switchbacks up the boulder field.

The trail switchbacks up a rocky boulder field, with views of the Colorado River. You arrive at a register box; sign in and continue along this smooth section. The trail crosses the railroad tracks and arrives at a small side canyon, north of Bootlegger Canyon. In the canyon the trail turns east and heads up the rock tiers to the ridgeline. At the ridgeline the trail smooths out and Pinto Arch is seen to the north. At 0.6 miles into the hike, the trail gently descends toward Bootlegger Canyon. Hiking over slickrock, this section of the trail is marked with cairns. At 0.73 miles you come to a cable assist area. Use the cable as you make your way over a large, slanted boulder. There is a small drop-off, but the cable keeps you safe. After the cable you see Corona Arch and Bowtie Arch. Continuing over slickrock you arrive at the next cable. The cable goes up for about 30 feet with toe holes for support. Across from the cable is a 6-foot ladder to climb. Catch your breath after your obstacle course. You hike past a weeping rock, which sits below Bowtie Arch. At 140 feet tall, with a 105-foot opening, Corona Arch can take your breath away with its beauty. Remember to breathe!
