PROVO — Hundreds of people are expected at the Freedom Festival's annual flag retirement ceremony Monday, June 14 in Provo.
Held in honor of Flag Day, the ceremony will feature a patriotic speaker and the retiring of flags that have become so worn that they are no longer fit for display.
Boy Scout Troop 999 will host the ceremony, and all Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Varsity Scouts and Venture Scouts in full uniform are invited to participate.
The ceremony will be held at Macey's Food and Drug Store, 1230 N. 500 West, at 7:30 p.m. Anyone with flags to retire can bring them to the ceremony or drop them off at Macey's beforehand. Scouts wanting to participate should arrive at least one hour early.
