Parowan, Panguitch to celebrate new Patchwork Parkway

PAROWAN — Ribbons will be cut at both ends of Utah's newest National Scenic Byway — the Patchwork Parkway Byway 143 — on Saturday, at 5 p.m.

Commemorative festivities, including guest speakers, will be held at Center and Main in the towns of Parowan and Panguitch.

After the ribbon is cut in Parowan, the Las Vegas Car Club will wind its way down Main Street/Byway 143. After they arrive in Panguitch, a social will be held.

Highway 143 was first designated as a State Scenic Byway in 1990, when former Gov. Michael O. Leavitt adopted the program as a way to recognize and promote Utah's most diverse, unique and scenic highways and back roads for the purpose of attracting new visitors and increasing economic opportunities in communities along designated byways and backways.
