MILLCREEK — A Salt Lake motorcyclist was killed in what police believe was an accident involving racing.
Officers were just leaving a call near 3000 East and 3900 South on Sunday when they noticed a Corvette and motorcycle speeding east, side by side, on 3900 South.
Unified Police Lt. Don Hutson said the officers were attempting to make a traffic stop when they came upon an accident just three blocks east in which the motorcyclist had crashed into a car. The Corvette had passed the westbound car before it made a left turn onto 3350 East, but the motorcyclist hit the rear passenger side of the vehicle and flew over it.
Deloss Garrett Dahle, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the car were treated at St. Mark's Hospital for minor injuries and were later released.
Police said the driver of the Corvette later returned to the scene.
