FARR WEST, Weber County — Work to extend a high-voltage electrical power distribution line will cause congestion and occasional closures on I-15 in northern Weber County this weekend.
Utility crews will pull high-tension power distribution lines over I-15 on Saturday and Sunday between mileposts 350 and 351, just south of the Weber-Box Elder county line. I-15 will be reduced to one lane in both directions each day from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Six-minute complete closures of I-15 will occur intermittently while a helicopter pulls the new transmission line across the freeway. These short closures are necessary to ensure the safety of the traveling public and are expected to cause severe traffic congestion in both direction of I-15 near Farr West and South Willard.
Electronic signs will post messages before the work zone. Motorists should reduce speeds and be prepared to stop at any time. If your travel is time-sensitive, use alternative routes such as U.S. 89 and state Route 126 (1900 West).
Current travel information can be found by calling 511.
