GYMNASTICS: The team was honored with academic accolades as eight gymnasts were named Academic All-WAC, having at least a 3.00 grade point average while participating in at least 50 percent of the team's contests.
The eight gymnasts honored included seniors Bailey Baker, Melissa Johnson, Lindsey Schultz and Elise Wheeler, junior Ari Lamb and sophomores Brooke Cersosimo and Lauren Jeffrey. Johnson and Jeffrey led the way with matching 3.90's in accounting and communications, respectively.
Southern Utah gymnastics will open its 2011 season on Jan. 7 when the Thunderbirds travel to Logan to face the Aggies of Utah State. SUU will open its home season against Sacramento State on Jan. 21.
