A footbridge over the Jordan River.

The Jordan River Parkway runs along the Jordan River from Utah Lake, through Salt Lake County and north to the Great Salt Lake. What a great place for biking, jogging, skating, canoeing, fishing and even horseback riding. This hike only gives you a taste of what the park has to offer. If you are new to hiking and want to get started, walking the Jordan River Parkway is a great place to start your conditioning. From the Redwood Trailhead Park, walk across the bridge to the east side of the Jordan River and head south. This section stays between the river and industrial businesses. The trail comes to the second footbridge over Mill Creek and leaves the industrial area to the sounds of birds chirping. You arrive at the Jordan River Parkway Trail junction, go right and cross the footbridge over the Jordan River. From here, the trail goes around wetlands and the next junction; go left. The wetlands attract a variety of birds and mammals. At the "T" in this section, go right heading north. You arrive at Decker Lake Trail at 2.14 miles. Turn right on the Decker Lake Trail and follow the canal east to the main trail. On the Jordan River Parkway Trail, go left over Decker Lake Canal and back to Redwood Trailhead Park. Take the time to explore more of our beautiful parkway.
