MILWAUKEE — Corey Hart ended the Mets' shutout streak at 35 innings with a game-winning homer in the ninth and Yovani Gallardo pitched his first career shutout in Milwaukee's victory over New York.

Johan Santana pitched eight scoreless innings, allowing three hits in a super performance, but the Mets' bullpen couldn't keep up the string of zeros.

Ryota Igarashi (0-1) gave up a single to Ryan Braun with one out in the ninth, and Hart drove a pitch into the Brewers' bullpen with two outs for his 10th homer of the season and first game-ending shot. Gallardo (5-2) had the best performance of his career, using his 94 mph fastball to get out of trouble late. He allowed eight hits, walked one, and had seven strikeouts.

REDS 15, ASTROS 6: At Cincinnati, Drew Sutton hit his first grand slam, joining one of the longest power surges in Cincinnati Reds history, and Sam LeCure went six innings to win his big-league debut, 15-6 over the historically bad Houston Astros on Friday night. The Reds maintained a one-game lead over St. Louis in the NL Central, winning for the 22nd time in 31 games. Cincinnati is nine games over .500 for the first time in four years. The Astros fell to 16-32 for the first time in franchise history. The worst team in the National League had catcher Kevin Cash pitch the ninth to save a weary pitching staff. He gave up three hits and a run. Brandon Phillips and Jonny Gomes connected off Wandy Rodriguez (2-7), who gave up a season-high eight runs in 3 1-3 innings. Sutton had a pinch-hit grand slam for a 14-2 lead in the sixth. The Reds have homered in 17 straight games, tied for the third-longest streak in club history. Gomes also tripled home a run and singled in another. He missed a shot at the cycle in the seventh, when he singled to left field but was forced to stop at first.

PHILLIES 3, MARLINS 2: At Miami, Ryan Howard had two hits and scored Philadelphia's first run in 31 innings on a triple by Raul Ibanez, Chase Utley drove in the go-ahead run and the Phillies snapped out of a dreadful slump to beat Florida. Wilson Valdez had two hits for the Phillies, who had been shut out in each of their last three games — all against the New York Mets — and in four of five overall. They avoided becoming the first team in 18 years to be blanked four straight times. Jorge Cantu had two hits, and Chris Coghlan and Gaby Sanchez each scored for Florida, which dropped its third straight to fall under .500 (24-25). Kyle Kendrick (3-2) made one big mistake for the Phillies in six innings, and that was an errant throw to first that allowed Florida to score both of its runs. Kendrick allowed five hits and no earned runs, striking out one. Jose Contreras allowed a pair of one-out singles in the ninth, before closing out his third save in three chances.Chris Volstad (3-6) gave up seven hits and three runs in 6 1/3 innings for Florida.
