It is important that U.S. residents be accounted for, including their citizenship. However, it breaks my heart to hear harsh, pitiless language against human beings who fail to obtain proper documentation. We cannot account for everyone's reason for side-stepping the system. To say "you just need to apply for a visa if you want to live here" is like saying "you just need to travel fast enough to escape Earth's gravity if you want to reach the moon."
I like to think that more people would enter the country legally if legal immigration were a simpler process.
