ST. GEORGE — A Washington County school bus driver was killed in an accident Wednesday between St. George and Enterprise.
Susan Randal, 55, of Enterprise, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.
The accident happened just after 7 a.m. on state Route 18. The bus was the only vehicle involved in the accident, said Utah Highway Patrol trooper Cameron Roden.
While traveling south, the bus apparently went off the right side of the road "for some distance" and then crossed the road and went off the other side, going through several fences in the process, Roden said.
The bus appeared to have stayed upright and came to rest in a field, he said.
Randal was thrown from the bus as it spun around, Roden said. There were no children on the bus at the time of the accident.
Investigators were still seeking the cause of the crash.
