PAGE, Ariz. (AP) — The National Park Service is celebrating the 100th anniversary of Rainbow Bridge National Monument.

The natural arch in southern Utah received the designation on May 30, 1910. More than 90,000 people visit the bridge annually.

Seeing the bridge once required a substantial hike from Navajo Mountain but now can be viewed by boat on the waters of Lake Powell.

The 160-acre monument is administered by Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, which encompasses 1.2 million acres in Arizona and Utah.

The recreation area is holding a series of events at its visitor center in Page this week to commemorate the anniversary. Those include workshops, lectures and rug weaving demonstrations.
