Monday, May 24th is the mail-in voter registration deadline for the Primary Election and Special Bond Elections to be held on June 22, 2010.
"Registering to vote by mail is the most convenient way to register," said Salt Lake County Clerk Sherrie Swensen.
Mailed-in registration forms must be post marked by the 24th. After this deadline, individuals who are not already registered to vote and wish to participate in the June 22nd election will need to register by appearing in person in the County Clerk's office on or before June 7th.
Voters outside Salt Lake County can find out about their voting deadlines through their county clerk's office, or at the Utah state elections website, www.elections.utah.gov.
An online voter registration form is available on the Salt Lake County Clerk's website at www.clerk.slco.org.
The Democratic Party has opened its primary races to any voter regardless of party affiliation. The Republican Party has closed its primary races. Only those who are registered as Republicans and those who registered as "unaffiliated" and who are willing to register as Republican at the polls can vote on the Republican ballot.
Those voters who are affiliated with a party on their voter registration and who wish to change their party affiliation to another party, must do so prior to the May 24th deadline.
There are also non-partisan school board primary races in portions of the Canyons and Jordan School Districts and non-partisan bond elections for the Canyons School District, Oquirrh Recreation and Parks District and Cottonwood Heights Parks and Recreation District. Since these are non-partisan elections, all registered voters may vote on these races and questions regardless of party affiliation.
