SOUTH SALT LAKE — A crash involving two semitrailers and two cars closed all but the carpool lane on northbound I-15 near the I-80 east interchange during Thursday's morning commute.

The accident, which occurred just before 8 a.m., caused only minor injuries, said Utah Highway Patrol trooper Cameron Roden.

Both trucks were hauling two trailers apiece, and one truck tipped over onto a car, while another car appeared to be pinned between the trucks, Roden said. It took crews several hours to clear the mess and reopen all lanes.

Officials are still investigating the cause of the accident, Roden said.

The Utah Department of Transportation's website showed severe delays as far back as the I-215 south interchange.
