SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah health officials say the number of people sickened after drinking raw milk has risen to 15.
The Utah Health Department says officials are investigating two clusters of illness. One involves nine reported cases of Campylobacter infection among residents in Weber, Davis and Cache counties.
The second group of illnesses involves six reported cases of Salmonella infection among residents in Utah, Salt Lake and Wasatch counties.
All of those who have fallen ill have reported drinking raw, unpasteurized milk.
Raw milk from the two dairies has been tested for bacteria. New samples of raw milk taken from the dairy linked to the Salmonella infections has tested negative.
But testing on milk from the dairy linked to the other cluster of illnesses has come back high for coliform counts.
