SALT LAKE CITY — She says it is not a formal endorsement, but former U.S. Senate candidate Cherilyn Eagar has issued a written statement saying many nice things about Tim Bridgewater, including that he would be an "excellent senator."
Eagar also said the statement is intended to clarify reports about some meetings she had separately with defeated Sen. Bob Bennett and Bridgewater, who is facing Mike Lee in a June 22 Republican primary for the nomination to Bennett's seat.
"Our campaign enjoyed working alongside the Bridgewater team. Their entire campaign ran a clean and honest race, and although this is not an endorsement, if he were to win this election he would make an excellent senator for Utah," she said in the statement, released Wednesday night.rom the U.S. Senate campaign. I did not feel this was an inappropriate gesture," Eagar wrote. "Mr. Bridgewater never raised this issue himself, and he has told me he was not aware of it."
